Turkey Tips - Hunting with a Bow

Months of practice are about to pay off.  A gobbler struts within range of your setup and pirouettes around your decoy.  You touch the trigger, but there is no loud bang, only a resonant twang.  The longbeard tumbles.  This scenario is playing out more often each season as more hunters go afield with bows and arrows, the time-honored tackle proven effective bye Native Americans and made more deadly and accurate with modern technology.

"Hunting turkeys with a bow takes turkey hunting to a whole new dimension.  Taking a turkey with a bow is very tough at best.  A lot of factors have to be in your favor," said Alex Rutledge, veteran turkey chaser and H.S. Strut pro staffer.

If you are looking for a true outdoor challenge, in the fall or spring, try bowhunting turkeys.  To be successful, invest time practicing and become totally confident with your shooting abilities before venturing afield.  When the moment of truth finally arrives, here's hoping your arrow flies true.

Below you'll find expert advice that will be helpful when gearing up, practicing, and trying to bag a turkey with a bow.
